So there is literally a junk yard near my house- well more like a junk room and I found some really interesting shaped pieces of vintage furniture I wanted to share with you .
One of which is this really awesome- what reminds me of a surfer type table - my Dude Table. Its Righteous maaan .
As you can tell this bad boy needed a hell of a lot of love. Its been decaying, the bolts were rusted, the wood had started fraying, and I'm pretty sure a family of rats started claiming it. Thats until I did.
So Lets start! This is what you'll need:
Wood Scrapper
Varnish- I used Provdec
Ink Blue Paint ( I used Rust-Oleums Spray)
Sandpaper ( 220 Grit)
Wood filler

1) I did what any reasonable person would do when they find a great piece of furniture in a junk room that they assume has been around rats- I pressure washed it with handy andy. Now that's not too great for wood but there wasn't really an option in this case and I didn't want to risk it. I also lifted one of the frayed bts and saw some pine poking through so it wasn't going to be a chipboard puzzle afterwards.
2) I took the scrapper and began pealing off the top layer that had began fraying. This took a top of time but what was revealed underneath was this gorgeous little pine piece.
3) Taking some light wood filler I filled in where the wood was damaged.
4) Then taking some light sanding paper I started sanding the top and legs making sure the surfaces were nicely sanded back and clean.
5) Once this was done I decided to use ink blue - which is my new fav colour to paint the bottom half of the table. I sprayed two coats and did this fairly lightly so that it didn't run .
6) One this was done I loved the contrast between the pine colour and the blue and decided it just needed a varnish with .
TAAAADAAAAAAA.After four coats this table was more then ready s a feature piece in my home.
There you have it a fun cycle on a junk yard find!
