Ok so its fair to say I went a little nuts with the DIY at my wedding. But this little token was seriously one of my favorite little DIYs, and by far one of the most fun .
There is also a little freebies token I have popped on our page just for your guys to check out and use and maybe even make your own scratch cards.
To make these this is what you need:
1) Strong white card and our template
2) Metallic acrylic paint
3) Sunlight Liquid
4) A Paint brush

5) Round shaped transparent stickers - I got mine from PNA but you should be able to find these at most office supply stores.
6) Scissors or a slicing knife
Now there was a fail before this was a win and I have to give full credit to my Bestie fest for saving my butt a few hours before the big day so this DIY literally is coming as a tried tested and true.
With that said - I did test it but my consistency for the one sheet was slightly off so I did end up having a set of cards that didn't want to scratch off . BESTIE FESTIE FOR THE WIN. My life is forever in debited to my bridesmaids for sitting the day before and quickly cutting out shapes to stick these cards together. Bless you and them ALL!
The biggest tip I can give is not to use under pigmented paint ( I used a chalky paint colour) , and to make 100% sure you follow the recipe (duh-don't be like me) . But also DON'T OVER COAT. My first set I painted at least 4-5 coats and so it shouldn't have been a surprise it didn't come off easy.
The paint should feel soapy that's the key that you are on the right track, And these usually shouldn't be left to set for like 5 months . ... yeah I made a lot of mistakes on this one. I see what I did here,
Details:
1) So start by cutting out all your cards and set them aside
2) With the paint mixture you want to mix a little bit in a dish at a time. I mixed almost a whole bottle at once. So I should have clicked on sooner.
In a little bowl mix 2 parts paint ( start with Two tablespoons) and 1 part sunlight or dishwashing liquid ( One tablespoon) . Make sure you mix this well.
3) Now you can either use the little round circles or simply tape over the area you want to scratch off. You basically need to create a plastic layer.
4) Begin painting - Now the first layer is meant to look a little transparent. Don't get a fright and blob it on like me - patience is a virtue
LEAVE IT TO DRY and then paint a second and third coat and by the third it should turn out perfect!
Once its set please make sure you have a dummy card so you can test it out!! If you've done it on a seperate piece of tape like me then simply remove and stick to the card and boom ,
Your own scratch cards which was a ton of fun on the wedding day!
Find our custom template in our freebies tab and let us know what you think of this little DIY .
